The Huawei Nova 6 5G was formalized on December 5, 2019, it is an Android 5G smartphone equipped with a HiSilicon 990 SoC with 8 GB of RAM, its main feature is a dual front camera located in a hole in the ‘screen. At the rear, there are three cameras: a 40-megapixel sensor for the main camera, the second camera is ultra-wide-angle. It has not yet been formalized in Bangladesh.
We were able to very briefly take in hand the Huawei Nova 6 and Nova 6 SE, two smartphones with excellent value for money in China. It is not impossible that we see these devices land in Bangladesh, even without Google services.
As we know, Huawei smartphones are deprived of Google services because of the embargo imposed by the United States. However, that doesn’t stop the brand from launching devices that deserve the public’s interest. The most recent are the Huawei Nova 6 and Nova 6 SE .
We had the opportunity to visit the Huawei flagship store in Shenzhen. It is the only boutique of its kind currently and it aims to highlight the ecosystem of the brand. A similar store is planned in Paris, but we will tell you all about it soon in a dedicated article. The idea to remember is as follows: the Huawei Nova 6 and Nova 6 SE were exposed to it.
Huawei Nova 6 Review
What should we think? These two models are clearly not the ones who will reinvent the codes of design. However, I found them really very pleasant in hand and the large screen on the front does its small effect despite the borders that are never forgotten. Moreover, for each smartphone, the front photo module is housed in a punch, that of the Nova 6 being a little longer horizontally since it has two front sensors.
Also, I would point out all the same that the two devices have too much blue slabs in their default settings. However, the maximum brightness seemed really good to me despite the very bright conditions of the store. As for the contrast, we would need a full test to have a real opinion on the question.
When you turn the two smartphones, you find yourself facing a pretty glass back with a rather pleasant touch in the palm of your hand. Again, remember all the same that the two devices are not a crazy aesthetic innovation either.
The main thing that sets them apart is the integration of their respective cameras. Indeed, on the Nova 6, the integration of the three sensors is done in the vertical direction on the upper left corner – we also observe a little air of Huawei P30 . The Nova 6 SE, for its part, will make you think more of the style of the latest iPhone with a square module for four sensors, still at the top left.
ATTRACTIVE VALUE FOR MONEY
Pretty, not pretty … I’ll let you judge. What personally interested me more about these two smartphones is rather their beautiful promises in terms of value for money. In this area, the Nova 6 and Nova 6 SE are undoubtedly the most interesting of the brand to date.
With its Kirin 990 , Huawei Nova 6 should offer performance at the height of the Mate 30 Pro which excels in this area. Except that, in China, the Nova 6 costs much less.
Indeed, you have to pay the equivalent of around 38500 Bangladeshi Taka only to get the Nova 6, while the 5G version sees its prices start at around 45700 BDT.
For the Huawei Nova 6 SE, which ships a Kirin 810 – certainly less powerful, but still interesting -, already present on Nova 5, the price drops even to almost 282 euros HT only. At these aggressive prices, we are therefore entitled to fairly powerful smartphones and a priori very solid characteristics both in the photo and in terms of autonomy with batteries whose capacities exceed 4000 mAh.
These beautiful qualities will obviously not erase the main defect of the two smartphones: the absence of Google services. This does not mean, however, that the French market will never see these two devices arrive.
Huawei has indeed promised that AppGallery, it’s alternative to the Play Store, will be better supplied with content in the coming weeks for Bangladeshi users. The firm also underlined its ambition to push more strongly its Huawei Mobile Services. Huawei’s whole challenge will be to convince enough developers to make its ecosystem without Google attractive.
We will not lie, it is far from won. However, it is never good either to bury the bear before having its skin – yes I deliberately missed this expression, because I like it like that.
Remember, however, that if these two smartphones arrive in Bangladesh, they will most certainly suffer from a considerable price increase.
